TOKYO, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened lower Thursday on weak U.S. stocks overnight and the rising yen against the U.S. dollar.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 106.50 points, or 0.64 percent, from Wednesday to 16,507.74.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 8.74 points, or 0.66 percent, to 1,306.00.
Decliners were led by real estate, securities and insurance issues.
