HOUSTON, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- One student was killed and another injured in a shooting incident which happened on Thursday morning at a high school in Alpine, a city in the western part of the U.S. state of Texas.
Police said that the shooting occurred before 8 a.m. local time. The shooter, a girl, is dead from an apparent self-inflicted shot after wounding another girl at the school, which has been locked down after the gunfire, according to local TV station KHOU.
A police officer was also accidentally shot and wounded by a marshal at the school and the conditions of the two injured are not clear at this time.
The shooting happened less than three weeks after classes began on Aug. 22.
