ZHENGZHOU, China, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- China's star spiker Zhu Ting, the Most Valuable Player in the Rio Olympic volleyball tournament, said on Saturday that she will cherish the opportunity to play in the Turkish league and try to improve her skills.
"I will fly to Turkey in mid September, and the experience will play a great role in my career. I hope I can learn much with club Vakifbank Istanbul," said Zhu, who helped China win the women's volleyball gold at the Rio Olympics.
Zhu signed with Vakifbank Istanbul in April and the deal was proposed by Lang Ping, head coach of the Chinese women's volleyball team.
China won the Rio gold medal after defeating Serbia in the final on Aug. 20, which is their third Olympic gold medal.
Zhu, who was named the Most Valuable Player after the final, finished as the top scorer of the competition with a total of 179 points including a tournament-high 33 in the semifinals against the Netherlands. She capped her Rio job with 25 points as the main Chinese weapon in the final.
"Despite winning gold in Rio, I think I have a lot of things to improve, that's why I go to Turkey," said Zhu.
