AMMAN, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Jordan condemned Israeli authorities on Monday for allowing radical settlers to break into the yards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site in Islam, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
Wael Arabyyat, Jordan's minister of awqaf and Islamic affairs, said the kingdom rejected the repeated storming of the mosque under the protection of the Israeli security forces.
He also slammed Israel for assaulting worshipers at the mosque.
The minister voiced his support for the Palestinians in the face of Israeli aggression.
He called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take measures to stop such violations.
The continued Israeli aggression will further fuel tensions in the Middle East, he added.
According to a peace deal with Israel in 1994, Jordan has the right to oversee Islamic and Christian sites in Jerusalem.
