RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Niccolo Campriani won the men's 50m rifle three positions with 458.8 points, bagging the fourth Rio Olympic shooting gold medal for Italy on Sunday.

It was the second gold for the 28-year-old Italian marksman at the Rio Olympic Shooting Center following his 10m air rifle triumph on Monday.

"The gold medal of London (2012 Olympic Games) was relief, the gold medal of Monday was anger and the gold medal of today is joy," said Campriani, who became the fifth Italian athlete to win at least three Olympic gold medals in any individual event.

Campriani didn't shoot very well in the qualification stage, entering the final at the eighth place. All eight shooters started from zero in the final, and Campriani seized the chance. The Italian was 0.6 points behind Russian veteran Sergey Kamenskiy before the final shot, in which he hit 9.2 and Kamenskiy only managed 8.3.

"Kamenskiy had a huge lead in the qualification round," said Campriani.

"Today I think he was the best shooter, but these are the rules, we go back to zero."

Kamenskiy took the silver with 458.5 points. Bronze medal went to Frenchman Alexis Raynaud who scored 448.4 points.

"The last shot is like a lottery. You never know if you will win. It's really hard on the last shot. I was unlucky," Kamenskiy said.
