TOKYO, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground in the morning Thursday as initial gains made on the back of Wall Street's advance were erased as the yen strengthened against the U.S. dollar and economic concerns resurfaced about Britain's vote to leave the European Union.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 35.62 points, or 0.23 percent, from Wednesday to 15,343.37.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 2.96 points, or 0.24 percent, to 1,231.24.

Notable issues that retreated by the break comprised real estate, information and communication and construction-linked shares.
