Cambodia's famed Angkor earns over 31 mln USD from ticket sales in H1

PHNOM PENH, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Revenue from ticket sales to foreign tourists visiting Cambodia's famed Angkor archaeological park reached 31.2 million U.S. dollars in the first six months of 2016, up 1.7 percent if compared to the same period last year, said a media statement on Monday.

The ancient site received some 1.09 million foreigners during the January-June period this year, up 0.7 percent if compared to the same period last year, said the statement from the state-run Angkor Enterprise, which is in charge of ticket sales at the park.

The largest sources of foreign tourists to the site are China, South Korea, and Japan.

Located in northwestern Cambodia's Siem Reap province, Angkor archaeological park, inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1992, is the kingdom's most popular tourist destination.

An entrance fee to the site is 20 U.S. dollars per day for a foreigner, 40 dollars for a three-day visit and 60 dollars for a week-long visit.
