18 killed in road accidents in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, June 27 (Xinhua) -- At least 18 people were killed and over 30 others injured in two separate road accidents in northwest and southwest Pakistan on Monday, local Urdu media reported.

Samaa News said that a passenger bus carrying over 40 people fell into a ravine while negotiating a sharp turn in Khuzdar district of the country's southwest Balochistan province.

The accident left 11 people killed and 25 others injured who were shifted to a nearby hospital.

The ill-fated bus was on its way to provincial capital of Quetta to the country's southern port city of Karachi.

In a separate accident, seven people were killed and five others injured in a van-car collision in Swat district of the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital.
