Vietnam reports 311 new COVID-19 cases, 13,211 in total

HANOI, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam reported 311 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, including 300 locally transmitted and 11 imported, raising the total tally to 13,211.

The Ministry of Health said that among the community cases, 137 were detected in the southern Ho Chi Minh City, 96 in the northern Bac Giang province, and 27 in the central Da Nang city.

Most of the new cases were found to be contacts of previously confirmed cases or linked to the clusters of infections in the localities.

The ministry reported that two more COVID-19 patients died from the coronavirus epidemic in the country, bringing the COVID-19 related death toll to 66.

Nationwide, a total of 5,229 patients have so far recovered from the pandemic, up 175 from Saturday.

As of Sunday, Vietnam has registered a total of 11,513 domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases, including 9,943 detected since the start of the latest outbreak in late April, according to the health ministry. Enditem
