DAR ES SALAAM, June 17 (Xinhua) -- China is leading in Tanzania with huge investments followed by Britain and the United States, the east African nation's investment watchdog said on Monday.

Geoffrey Mwambe, the Executive Director of the Tanzania Investment Center, said factors that made investors to invest in Tanzania included the prevailing peace and political tranquility, economic stability, investment guarantees and rich natural resources such as arable land, natural gas and tourism.

Speaking at the a business dialogue in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam, Mwambe assured investors that the government will continue improving the business and investment environment.

The business dialogue was aimed at discussing challenges that investors were facing and steps the government could take to improve the business and investment climate.

Angellah Kairuki, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office responsible for investment, said the government was implementing policy reforms so as to strike an appropriate balance between the rights and obligation of investors and the need to protect foreign investors.
