The State Hunting Supervision Bureau will track the tiger's movement through a data belt.
VLADIVOSTOK, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A rescued Amur tiger was released back to the forest in Russia's Far East on Friday by the Amur Tiger Center, a local wildlife protection agency.
The injured tiger, which is two years old and more than 1.5 meters long, was found near the village of Verkhniypereval, Primorsky Territory, and taken to a wildlife rescue center. A medical examination found it had a broken fang and lacerations on its front paws that needed stitching.
After three months of treatment and training, animal protection experts believed that the tiger was fully recovered and ready for returning to its natural habitat.
The State Hunting Supervision Bureau will track the tiger's movement through a data belt, which is tied around the tiger's neck and can send location data to a monitoring satellite, said Alexey Surovy, first deputy minister of forestry and wildlife conservation of Primorsky Territory.
The rescue was jointly organized by the Ministry of Forest and Wildlife Protection of Primorsky Territory, the Amur Tiger Center, the Rescue Center for Tiger and Other Rare Animals, and the Roscongress Foundation of Russia. This is the 14th tiger sent back into nature since 2013. ■
