Stronger anti-virus measures came into effect on April 12 in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Okinawa prefectures due to the resurgence of COVID-19 infections.
The prevention measures under the quasi-state of emergency include asking restaurants and bars in densely populated areas to stop operation by 8 p.m., as well as capping attendance of large events at 5,000.
The measures have started on Monday and will be effective through May 5 for Kyoto and Okinawa, and May 11 for Tokyo.
