TRIPOLI, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeinah on Monday met with Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela in Libya's capital Tripoli and discussed mutual cooperation.
Dbeibah praised Malta's important role in resolving the conflict in Libya by organizing several meetings between the Libyan factions, said a statement issued by the Libyan prime minister's information office.
"Dbeibah said that the two countries are working to cooperate at the bilateral and regional levels, saying the trade exchange and the resumption of flights are the most important," it added.
For his part, Abela said that the two countries cooperate in the fight against COVID-19 and combating crime, announcing that flights will resume soon and the Maltese embassy will return to Tripoli in a few days.
Abela also stressed full support for Libya in various fields, mainly economy and security, the statement added.
Dbeibah's Government of National Unity was approved by the House of Representatives (parliament) recently in order to end the state of political division in the country and prepare for the upcoming elections later this year. Enditem
