BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- China's vegetable prices went down markedly in March as warmer temperature facilitates growth and market supply nears peak season.

The "vegetable basket" index stood at 132.05 by the end of March, down 11.89 points month on month, signalling a seasonal decline, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Average wholesale price of 28 major vegetables tracked by the ministry was 5.2 yuan (about 80 U.S. cents) per kg for March, down 13.9 percent from the previous month.
