China's success in poverty alleviation offers inspiration and is worth learning for other countries still beset by poverty, overseas experts have said. China has declared a "complete victory" in its fight against poverty. Since the launch of its reform and opening-up policies in the late 1970s, 770 million impoverished rural residents have shaken off poverty when calculated in accordance with China's current poverty standards. China has contributed more than 70 percent of global poverty reduction over the same period.
