India's COVID-19 tally rises to 10,169,118

NEW DELHI, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,169,118 on Saturday as 22,273 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the country's health ministry.

According to the data, the death toll mounted to 147,343 as 251 COVID-19 patients died since Friday morning.

There are still 281,667 active cases in the country, while 9,740,108 people have been discharged so far from hospitals after medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the federal government has ramped up COVID-19 testing facilities across the country, as more than 160 million tests have been conducted.

As many as 167,159,289 tests had been conducted till Friday, out of which 853,527 tests were conducted on Friday alone, said the latest data issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Saturday.

Delhi has been one of the most COVID-19 affected places in the country. As many as 758 new cases and 30 deaths were registered in the national capital through Friday.

So far as many as 10,414 people have died in the national capital due to COVID-19, confirmed the Delhi's health department. Enditem
