India's COVID-19 tally rises to 10,099,066, death toll reaches 146,444

NEW DELHI, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,099,066 on Wednesday as 23,950 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the health ministry.

According to the data, the death toll mounted to 146,444 as 333 COVID-19 patients died since Tuesday morning.

There are still 289,240 active cases in the country, while 9,663,382 people have been discharged from hospitals after medical treatment.

As many as 164,268,721 tests have been conducted in India till Tuesday, out of which 1,098,164 tests were conducted on Tuesday alone, said the latest data issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Wednesday.

Delhi has been one of the most COVID-19 affected places in the country. As many as 939 new cases and 25 deaths were registered in the national capital on Tuesday.

So far 10,329 people have died in the capital due to COVID-19, confirmed the Delhi's health department. Enditem
