NANJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- A new high-speed railway has fully gone into operation in eastern China's Jiangsu Province.
A section of the Lianyungang-Zhenjiang high-speed railway, connecting Huai'an and Zhenjiang, was put into service on Friday.
The other section of the rail line, linking Lianyungang with Huai'an, already opened to traffic late last year.
The Lianyungang-Zhenjiang high-speed railway runs vertically through Jiangsu Province, connecting 11 railway stations along the line.
With a length of 305 kilometers, the high-speed railway has a designed speed of 250 kph.
Travel time between cities in Jiangsu Province and neighboring Shanghai City is now greatly reduced with the debut of the Lianyungang-Zhenjiang high-speed railway.
