Taliban attack repulsed, 7 killed in Afghanistan's eastern Laghman

MEHTARLAM, Afghanistan, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Taliban militants' attack on Dawlat Shah district of the eastern Laghman province has been repulsed and the insurgents fled away after leaving seven bodies behind, said an army statement released here Monday.

The militants, according to the statement, attacked security checkpoints on Sunday night to gain ground in Dawlat Shah district, but the security forces based in the area, returned fire, killing seven militants on the spot, forcing others to retreat.

During the counterattack, a number of arms and ammunitions including three anti-vehicle mines were discovered and destroyed, the statement further said. Enditem
