ISLAMABAD, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Thirteen people were killed and 15 others injured in a passenger van-bus collision in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Monday morning, local media reported.

The accident happened when the van hit into the bus coming from the opposite direction in Punjab's Sheikhupura district, the report said, adding that low visibility due to foggy weather was a factor in the fatal incident.

Both vehicles caught fire following the collision, trapping many passengers inside.

Death toll of the accident is feared to rise as most of the injured people are in critical condition because of the serious burn injuries.

Firefighters have doused the fire and rescue teams are trying to recover more possible bodies from the vehicles.

Road accidents are quite frequent in Pakistan mainly due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
