ZHUJI, China, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Shandong Heroes overcame a 19-point deficit to defeat the Nanjing Monkey Kings 87-69 in the the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Friday.
Nanjing had a 25-17 lead after the first quarter thanks to six points from Xiralijan Muhtar.
After launching a 6-0 run in the following quarter, the Monkey Kings extended their advantage to 14 points.
Although Jia Cheng was fouled out in the third quarter, Shandong managed to cut the deficit to 10 points.
Led by Manny Harris and Tao Hanlin, Shandong embarked on a 22-4 run in the last quarter to race ahead of the Monkey Kings and take their second victory in the new CBA season.
Tao had a game-high 25 points and 14 rebounds for Shandong, with Gao Shiyan scoring 16 points, Jiao Hailong finishing with 12 points, and Harris contributing 13 points.
For Nanjing, Xiralijan collected a team-high 18 points, Qiao Wenhan grabbed nine points and Guo Yifei added seven points. Enditem
