China's gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 4.9 percent year on year in Q3, data from China's National Bureau of Statistics showed earlier this week. "It is a surprising achievement," says Hidetoshi Tashiro, chief economist at Japan's Sigma Capital Ltd. in an online interview with Xinhua on Wednesday.
