BERLIN, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Augsburg extended their perfect start to the new Bundesliga season after goals from Felix Uduokhai and Daniel Caligiuri sunk Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the second round of matches on Saturday.

Dortmund took the reins from the kick-off and pressed Augsburg on the back foot. Augsburg's defense had their hands full while goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz had to deny a dangerous volley from Axel Witsel in the 6th minute.

Dortmund continued on the front foot and controlled possession but Augsburg's well-positioned defense defused most attacks in the midfield.

As the match progressed, Augsburg grew in confidence and opened the scoring against the run of play in the 40th minute when Caligiuri's pinpoint cross into the box found Uduokhai, who headed home.

Dortmund responded with furious attacks but Gikiewicz was alert enough to keep out promising chances from Thomas Meunier and Erling Haaland before the break.

The second half started similarly to the first as Dortmund controlled possession whereas the Bavarians waited for chances. And their chance came earlier than expected, as Augsburg clinically doubled their advantage with only their second shot on target after Florian Niederlechner's through ball allowed Caligiuri to make it 2-0 in the 54th minute.

Dortmund started an onslaught on Augsburg's goal but Gikiewicz staged a faultless performance and drove the visitors to desperation with his saves in the closing stages.

With the result, Augsburg have won their first two Bundesliga games of the campaign for the first time in the club's history, while Dortmund suffered their first loss of the season.

Elsewhere, Borussia Monchengladbach are still waiting for their first win of the season as they shared the spoils with Union Berlin following a 1-1 draw.

Newly-promoted Stuttgart inflicted Mainz's second loss in as many games, as goals from Silas Wamangituka, Daniel Didavi, Mateo Klimowicz and Sasa Kalajdzic secured a 4-1 victory.

Joan Simun Edmundsson's sole goal was enough to ensure Arminia Bielefeld a 1-0 win over Cologne, and RB Leipzig played out a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen. Enditem
