RAMALLAH, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Palestine on Thursday reported 713 new cases infected with the novel coronavirus in the Palestinian territories, raising the total number of infections to 47,830.

In a press statement, Palestinian Health Minister Mai al-Kaila said that the new infections were recorded in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the health ministry reported five new fatalities from the COVID-19, bringing the death toll in the Palestinian territories to 322, the minister added.

Four deaths were recorded in the West Bank districts, while one death was reported in East Jerusalem, she explained.

Palestine currently has 12,167 active cases, the minister noted.
