Basi Culture Declaration issued in China's Fuzhou

BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- The Basi Culture Declaration was issued at the 2019 Basi Cultural Forum which was held in Fuzhou, east China's Fujian Province on Wednesday.

Basi is the name of the world's longest living captive giant panda.

It lived in Fuzhou for 33 years and was invited to visit the United States in 1987.

In 1990, Basi was honored as the model for Pan Pan, the mascot of the Beijing Asian Games.

In 2015, a video entitled "Basi says hello to the world" was screened at the Times Square, New York City.

It died in 2017 at the age of 37.

The declaration stated it aims to tell the legendary story of Basi, promote culture of peace, and promote exchanges between nations.
