Malaysia earns a spot at 2020 AFC U19 Championship

PHNOM PENH, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's U-19 football team advanced to the finals of the 2020 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-19 Championship after winning all four games in the Group G qualifying round in Cambodia.

In their latest Group G match on Sunday, Malaysia defeated Thailand 1-0 after midfielder Umar Hakeem scored at the 84th minute.

It was Malaysia's fourth victory in Group G after they beat Cambodia 5-4, Brunei 11-0 and the Northern Mariana Islands 10-0.

A total of 46 teams from across Asia have been drawn into 11 groups in the 2020 AFC U19 Championship Qualifiers.

All group winners and four best second-placed teams will qualify for the finals alongside hosts Uzbekistan, who will receive automatic qualification, according to the AFC.
