Zilina continues hunt for Slovak Basketball League title

BRATISLAVA, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Zilina defeated Komarno 105-93 on Saturday to closely chase frontrunner Inter Bratislava in the men's Slovak Basketball League which was entering the second quarter of competition schedule.

While Zilina kept the second place with six wins against two defeats, the injury-plagued Komarno played its third straight match with only seven players on the bench.

Both Bosnian Dejan Jeftic and American T.J. Sapp scored 22 points for Zilina converted 17 three-pointers.

In the north of Slovakia, Spisska Nova Ves was still waiting for its first victory of the season. Yet the lowest team of the league lost to Handlova 87-85 at home when American shooting guard Justus Alleyn led the visitors with 29 points.

In another northern town of Svit, Prievidza won over its neighbors 93-85 as its trio of Ibrahim Drumo, Nikola Gacesa and Nenad Delic scored a total of 60 points for the fifth win of the season, delivering the first home defeat to Svit.

In Levice, the Patriots was up by five points into the last five minutes, but lost to Lucenec eventually by one point as American Mike Caffey made the buzzer-beater for 26 points for the winning visitors.
