JERUSALEM, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli military drone crashed over Lebanon on Wednesday morning in the vicinity of the border with Israel, the army said.

A military spokesperson said that the unmanned aerial vehicle fell "during routine security activity," without elaborating on the cause of the crash.

The drone fell adjacent to Israel's border with Lebanon within Lebanese territory, the spokesperson added.

Earlier on Wednesday, al-Manar, a TV station of Lebanon's Hezbollah group, reported that the Iran-backed group intercepted the drone while it flew over the village of Kafr Kila in southern Lebanon.
