TOKYO, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened sharply higher Wednesday, following U.S. shares rallying overnight.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average climbed 308.28 points, or 1.47 percent, from Tuesday to 21,280.99.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 21.16 points, or 1.38 percent, at 1,549.83.
All industry categories on the main section advanced into positive territory, with mining, securities house and marine transportation-linked issues comprising those that gained the most.
