WASHINGTON, April 23 (Xinhua) -- The Phoenix Suns has fired head coach Igor Kokoskov after a poor season.
The NBA franchise announced the news in a statement on Monday night.
"After extensive evaluation, I determined it is best to move in a different direction with our head coaching position," Suns general manager James Jones said.
"I want to thank Igor for his work this past season and wish him the best with his future endeavors."
Kokoskov was hired in 2018 to replace Canadian Jay Triano, and a search "will begin immediately for the Suns' next head coach."
The Suns ended the 2018-2019 season as the worst in the Western Conference at 19-63.
