SHANGHAI, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Renowned fashion brand Vivienne Tam debuted its 2019 Fall/Winter collection in Shanghai Wednesday.
This is the first time that the brand's debut collection has shifted to Shanghai from New York.
This season's collection is "all about shero," and "the empowerment of women when they put on the clothes," said designer Vivienne Tam.
"Shanghai is the Paris of the east, and the fashion center of the future," she said, explaining why she chose the Shanghai International Fashion Showcase as the brand's global launch stage.
Tam recalled her memories of Shanghai, where she bought her first fabrics, and was inspired for her first collection and her multicultural design aesthetics.
"I am so excited to return to this vibrant city to present my new collection," she said.
Tam is known in the international fashion world for her East-meets-West design concepts. As an expert in incorporating oriental elements into fashion design, she has always emphasized her Chinese origin.
Starting from Wednesday, the Autumn/Winter 2019 Shanghai Fashion Week will present more than 100 fashion shows. According to the organizer, more than 300 first-time-in-China new stores were opened in Shanghai in 2018, when more than 3,000 fashion brands debuted new products.
