DUBAI, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Dubai's non-oil foreign trade in the first six months of 2018 reached 645 billion dirham (175.74 billion U.S. dollars), a year-on-year increase of 0.78 percent, said Dubai Crown Prince on Tuesday.
The re-export trade registered a 14-percent growth to reach 203 billion dirham, confirming Dubai's role as a regional and global re-export hub, said Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum on Twitter.
"Dubai's commercial capacity expansion opens up new horizons for expanding partnerships and trade and economic cooperation with various parts of the world," he added.
Dubai is part of the seven emirates comprising the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a major oil supplier whereas oil contributes only 2 percent to Dubai's economy. About 90 percent of the UAE's "black gold" is located in the biggest emirate and Emirati capital Abu Dhabi.
