DUBAI, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The digital transformation process in Saudi Arabia tends to create new types of jobs instead of raising unemployment, Deemah Al-Yahya, acting CEO of the National Digitization unit said on Sunday.

In an exclusive interview with Xinhua at the opening day of the 37th Gitex Technology Week, Yahya said that Saudi's students needed to realize that more blue collar jobs would be replaced by new kinds of jobs "between the white collar and blue collar."

"I tell them that the mindset has to change from 'seeking a job' to 'creating a job'," she said, adding that all kinds of startups are already flourishing in the country, with their products or services ranging from smart-phone apps to home delivery to taxi pick-ups.

In order to accelerate the digital transformation process, the Saudi government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Germany's blue chip firm SAP during German Chancellor Angela Merkel's official visit to Saudi earlier in May.
