It is midsummer again, lotus flowers throughout the country begin to blossom.
As one of the most remarkable creations of nature, the lotus flower is a symbol of purity, beauty, majesty, grace, knowledge and serenity in Chinese culture. Zhou Dunyi (1017–1073 AD) , a scholar in Song dynasty, once wrote in his most beloved work On the Love of the Lotus, "I love the lotus because, while growing from mud, it is unstained."
Why not refresh yourself with a visual tour of blooming lotus flowers in Beijing, Hangzhou, Suzhou and other Chinese cities?
