SAO PAULO, June 14, 2016 (Xinhua) -- Image taken on June 9, 2016, shows Gilberto Kido, 50, posing with his frequent blood donor card in the waiting room at the "Pro Sangre Foundation" in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Gilberto Kido has been a voluntary blood donor for the last 30 years after his mother died while waiting for a kidney transplant. Using his clown character, Kido has an objective to encourage the blood donation for saving lives. The World Blood Donor Day is celebrated every year on June 14th. In 2016 the theme of the campaign is "Blood connects us all", the World Health Organization (WHO) has also adopted the slogan "Share Life, Give Blood" in order to raise awareness on the importance of systems of voluntary donation as a way of promoting community cohesion.
