The World Blood Donor Day is commemorated yearly on June 14, and in 2016, the theme of the campaign is "Blood connects us all". The World Health Organization (WHO) has also adopted for this day the slogan "Share life, give blood", with the purpose of raising awareness on the importance of the voluntary donation systems as a way of promoting the community cohesion.
