Mongolia adopts national program against human trafficking

ULAN BATOR, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian Cabinet discussed and adopted a national program against human trafficking Wednesday during a regular meeting.

The national program aims to intensify the implementation of the human trafficking law, prevent this type of crime from happening and protect the victims of human trafficking.

Reflections on measures to realize the program will be collected in the corresponding action plans every year. Also, state and local budgets and international aid will finance its implementation.

In the last six years, 54 human trafficking cases and 122 prostitution cases were investigated by the police. Fifteen individuals were convicted of human trafficking and 54 individuals of 36 cases of prostitution and related crime.
