BRUSSELS, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Eurozone annual inflation was confirmed at 2.0 percent in February, the highest level in four years and in line with the flash estimate, the statistical office of the European Union Eurostat said on Thursday.

However, the increasing inflation in the eurozone was largely driven by high energy prices which was up by 9.3 percent.

The European Central Bank was not expected to end its quantitative easing policies as the core inflation, which excludes volatile energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices, remaining unchanged at only 0.9 percent.

In the 28-nation EU, annual inflation rose to 1.9 percent in February from 1.7 percent in January.
