MINSK, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Several thousand Belarusians are rallying to protest against labor decree across the country on Wednesday, local media reported.

About 2,000 people marched along a street in central Minsk, demanding the reverse of the decree, increase of salaries and creation of new jobs.

Similar rallies were also held in other places such as Grodno and Mogilev the same day.

The decree, signed earlier by Belarusian president, requires citizens who don't work for more than 183 days a year to pay tax of about 240 U.S. dollars.

Starting from February, the rallies have been held in different cities of the country. More than 120 people have been punished with administrative arrests and fines since the beginning of the protest.
