Coffee fair opens in central Vietnam

HANOI, March 9 (Xinhua) -- A coffee fair opened in Buon Ma Thuot City of Vietnam's central province of Dak Lak on Thursday, drawing participating of 234 domestic and foreign firms.

Held within the framework of the upcoming sixth Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, the fair has a total of 735 booths of exhibitors from 13 countries and regions.

Booths at the event themed "Qualified coffee for Public health" showcased various types of coffee, coffee-related products, handicrafts, machines, coffee tree planting as well as coffee-processing equipments.

Some famous coffee brands of Vietnam, including Buon Ma Thuot, Trung Nguyen, Bien Hoa, Nescafe, and An Thai, introduced new and high-quality coffee types favored by domestic and world markets.

Buon Ma Thuat is widely known as the Vietnamese coffee capital.

Besides tasting coffee, visitors can also enjoy traditional art performances at the fair which will last till Monday.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first two months of 2017, Vietnam exported 273,000 tons of coffee worth 616 million U.S. dollars, down 7.3 percent in volume and up 22.3 percent in value year-on-year.
