TIRANA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The salaries of employees working in Albania's public administration sector will increase by around 10 percent starting from March 8, the Albanian minister of finance told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday.

In total, there are 31,000 employees in the education system and 18,000 employees working in the health sector across the country, Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj stated while presenting the Council of Ministers decision.

According to the head of public finance, the growth of salaries was made possible thanks to reforms undertaken in the last three and half years by the current government.

A total of 21,000 employees will benefit from the decision, Ahmetaj said.

The finance minister also said that Albania had to start implementing the judicial reform and the vetting process as soon as possible, saying they were essential to improving the country's economic indicators and citizens' welfare.

Justice reform is a key instrument that will help boost economic development and attract more investors, he said. Enditem
