HO CHI MINH CITY, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- A total of 446 fires and explosions occurred in Vietnam in the first month of this year, killing six people and injuring 21 others, while causing estimated losses of 73.4 billion Vietnamese dong (3.3 million U.S. dollars), the country's Fire Prevention and Fight Department said Thursday.
The respective figures in January 2016 were 242 cases of fires and explosions, two deaths, 10 injuries and losses of 53.3 billion Vietnamese dong (2.4 million U.S. dollars).
A total of 3,256 fires and explosions broke out across Vietnam last year, killing 135 people and injuring 278 others, while leaving losses of some 1,474 billion Vietnamese dong (nearly 66.1 million U.S. dollars).
