KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Eight Taliban fighters have been killed and three others injured on Thursday after government aircraft targeted militants' hideouts in northern Afghanistan, an army spokesman said.
The operations occurred in the Alchin locality outside Kunduz city, the capital of Kunduz province, 250 km north of Kabul, Nasratullah Jamshidi said.
The aircraft, according to the official, acting upon an intelligence report, raided the Taliban hideouts during which a weapon cache of the insurgents has also been destroyed.
Confirming the operations, Ghulam Hazrat Karimi, the spokesman for Pamir 20 Corps in northern region, said targeting militants' positions in and outside Kunduz city as part of winter crackdown on enemies would continue.
Taliban militants who are active in parts of Kunduz province are yet to make comments on the situation.
