KABUL, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- A total of 21 Taliban militants were killed as aircraft of government forces pounded Taliban positions in the eastern Logar province on Sunday, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
"Acting upon confirmed intelligence reports, Air Forces stormed a hideout of armed Taliban in Charkh district of Logar province yesterday evening, killing 21 armed Taliban and destroying their weapons and ammunition," the statement said.
Two Taliban group commanders were also among those killed in the strikes, it added.
Taliban militants who hold control in parts of the relatively troubled province have not confirmed the casualties.
