NEW YORK, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale jolted 87 km WSW of Kirakira, Solomon Islands, at 19:10 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was initially determined to be at 10.8 degrees south latitude and 161.2 degrees east longitude.
