BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 8.3 on the Richter scale struck Solomon Islands at 1:38 a.m. Friday (Beijing Time), the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) said.
The epicenter was initially determined to be at 10.7 degrees south latitude and 161.36 degrees east longitude.
