Myanmar attracts over 15 mln USD foreign investment in November

YANGON, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar attracted 15.389-million-U.S. dollar foreign direct investment in November mainly in manufacturing, hotel and tourism, according to the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) Wednesday.

The DICA's statistics show that total foreign direct investments in the country reached 67.012 billion U.S. dollars as of November since late 1988, with oil and gas leading with 22.41 billion dollars, followed by manufacturing, hotel and tourist sectors.

These sectors are the most encouraged ones highlighted by DICA's investment policy.

According to the statistics, China stood as the largest investor with 18.511 billion U.S. dollars, followed by Singapore and Thailand.

The country's new investment law will take effect with its regulations on April 1 next year.
