ZAGREB, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Croatia's economy grew 2.9 percent in the third quarter of 2016, the latest report from the national statistical office (DZS) said on Wednesday.
It was the eighth consecutive quarterly growth and recorded the fastest growth quarter in the past eight years, it said.
Stronger export and domestic demand were the main contributions, DZS said, adding that consumption was up 2.1 percent and export increased by 1.4 percent.
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said he was satisfied with the figure and expected a 3.2-percent increase or likely further growth in 2017.
His government would continue to facilitate business operations and implement other economic policy measures to create jobs and improve people's living standards, Plenkovic said.
He said he hoped economic growth would pick up to five percent by 2020. Enditem
