LOS ANGELES, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Protestors continued gathering in downtown Los Angeles against a pipeline project here on Tuesday.

The Dakota Access Pipeline project, with a cost of 3.7 billion U.S. dollars, involves laying pipes under a Missouri River reservoir, which Native American groups say threatens their sacred land and drinking water supply.

Hundreds of protestors gathered in downtown Los Angeles calling the government to take action to stop the project.

Actresses Marisa Tomei and Alfre Woodard also joined the protest.

"I'm here to stand with the people of Standing Rock (the name of the anti-pipeline movement) and to support the First Nations people," Tomei said in an interview.

"Protect the water and not let the pipeline go through their sacred lands," she said.

Protests are going on in several U.S. cities. The main concern of protesters is that if the oil pipeline under the river ruptures, it could ruin the water supply. Enditem
