BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- China and France will increase cooperation related to the Chinese and French languages, according to an agreement signed to promote cooperation on the teaching of languages.
Chinese and French officials signed the agreement here on Tuesday at an ongoing seminar, aiming to boost language and cultural exchanges and cooperate in the training of personnel.
"Cooperation on the two languages will be conducive to promoting mutual understanding and trust, and will promote the bilateral relationship," said Du Zhanyuan, Vice Minister of China's Ministry of Education.
The three-day seminar, attended by officials and language experts from both sides, will include discussions on language policies and plans, French and Chinese education, language conservation and cultural diversity, and language services.
A week-long exhibition about language and cultural cooperation between the two sides will be held at the Capital Museum in Beijing.
